(CNN, Sept 7,2017): The City of Miami Beach is now under a hurricane watch and a storm surge watch. Miami-Dade County issued a mandatory evacuation for the City of Miami Beach on Wednesday. Once wind speeds reach 39 mph, first responders will no longer be dispatched for rescues due to dangerous conditions, according to a press release from Miami Beach.
Florida governor: Both coasts of Florida need to be ready to evacuate
Florida Gov. Rick Scott urged every Floridian — on both coasts — to be ready to evacuate.
“Every Florida family must prepare to evacuate, regardless of the coast you live on,” he said.
Right now, only the Florida Keys and parts of the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas are under mandatory evacuations, but more regions could be added to the orders later. Even those on the west coast of the state should be prepared to leave if the storm’s path changes.
