(Mixed Martial Arts): Martin Nguyen has re-signed with ONE Championship – and landed his “biggest contract to date”.
The former two-division MMA champ will return in October, and is eyeing the winner of next weekend’s clash between featherweight contenders Garry Tonon and Shamil Gasanov.
“Remind these two humpers that are fighting that I got the winner,” Nguyen told the Post after putting pen to paper on a multi-fight deal on Thursday.
“They both think they’re getting a title shot after this win. But in fact they gotta fight me first. October 14, I’m back baby.
The 34-year-old Australian Nguyen (15-6) is 2-3 in his last five bouts, a run that started with him surrendering the featherweight title to Thanh Le in October 2020.

He rebounded from a loss to Ilya Freymanov in Singapore last September by beating newcomer Leonardo Casotti at February’s ONE Fight Night 7 in Thailand’s capital.
Nguyen had previously signed a 10-fight deal in 2019, but his contract was set to expire soon with talks taking place throughout June – though he said at the time “I’m with the company until the end”.
“The title is the goal,” Nguyen added on Thursday.” Negotiations went super smooth as I expected. I’m just glad that my loyalty and my appreciation for the company was recognised.”
“The Situ-Asian”, who is currently on holiday with his family in Bali, Indonesia, will now make a renewed push to win back the belt currently held by China’s Tang Kai, who defeated Le via unanimous decision last August.
