Mississauga :Carassauga Opening Night Ceremony took place on Friday, May 25 at 7:30 pm located at the Hershey Centre – Main Arena Stage (inside the Africa Pavilion) There was a kaleidoscope of colour and cultures showcased in the exciting Parade of Nations.
Highlight of the evening was the flag dance choreographed by Thao Pham of Vietnam Pavilion. This launched the three-day Festival and was a celebration of all the countries represented at the Festival, clearly depicting the cultural diversity of the City. Non-stop cultural entertainment throughout the Festival weekend was featured on the Pavilion Stages, which was a main attraction point for visitors.
Premier of Ontario Kathleen Wynne, Mayor of Mississauga Bonnie Crombie along with other representatives from different levels of government took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
With over 50 countries represented in 32 Pavilions at 10 locations across Mississauga, there was a lot to experience.
